Advanced Cholesterol testing
Discover the TRUTH about cholesterol
Each year, heart attacks kill more than 8 times as many women than breast cancer, (1) and 15 times as many men than prostate cancer. (1).
More people will die of a heart attack than the next 10 causes of death combined.(1)
Even more alarming ...
A major study showed:
50% of the people who suffered a heart attack had normal cholesterol levels. (3)
A standard cholesterol test doesn’t give you enough information to know your true risk for heart disease. It’s important to get the whole picture by using the NMR LipoProfile test—a test that measures more than just cholesterol. The good news is that once you have all the information, it’s easy for your doctor to reduce your risk using simple treatments.

The TRUTH about LDL PARTICLES
It’s simple: The more particles you have, the higher your risk for heart disease, which can lead to heart attack and stroke. (4-6) Only when your LDL particle count is at acceptably low levels can you be sure your risk has been reduced.
To understand how a high number of LDL particles increases your risk, it’s helpful to think of an LDL particle as a vehicle and cholesterol as a passenger. It’s the number of vehicles that cause a traffic jam, not the number of passengers they carry. Similarly, it’s the number of LDL particles that cause heart disease, not the amount of cholesterol they carry.
A person with low cholesterol doesn’t necessarily have a low number of LDL particles. (5)Many people with low or normal levels of cholesterol still have a high number of LDL particles, including those whose cholesterol is already being lowered by diet, exercise, or medication. Relying on a standard cholesterol test to know your risk of heart disease isn’t enough, because a cholesterol test doesn’t measure the number of LDL particles. It can underestimate certain people’s risk for heart disease—people who could have benefited from, or even have been saved by highly effective treatments.
The NMR LipoProfile test provides the number of LDL particles and cholesterol information. This knowledge enables your doctor to take simple steps to reduce your risk by lowering your LDL particle count to acceptable levels.
